Hey, readers, how
are you? I do hope that you all are fine
and managing to survive despite the terrible situation of things in Nigeria. Yes,
I do know how bad the situation is, having spent much of my life in Nigeria
before relocating to Athens, Greece, recently. The short time I have spent here
in Athens, Greece has further brought home to me the reality of the extent of
unjustifiable suffering in Nigeria.
Here is Greece,
just as in many other parts of the world, things work. The same would have been
the case if successive Nigerian Governments have managed the enormous resources
which Almighty God has given Nigeria well, instead of misappropriating much of
it, therefore, appropriate for me to kick-start this column with my candid opinion
on the mismanagement of our mineral resources by the Nigeria Government. Lest I
forget, while welcoming you to this column, let me make it clear that I intend
to keep a regular date with you. Even if I am not able to do so every week for
now due to the pressures of trying to settle down in a foreign land. I hope to
do so in the nearest future.
So can we get the
ball rolling? Nigeria is a blessed nation with precious mineral resources,
which are too numerous to mention. The country is known as the giant of Africa
by the world, but, the recent downward slide in fortunes has earned this
blessed land the 13th position among the poorest countries of
the world.
Despite the
much-touted statement on economic recovery of the country since independence in
1960, the mismanagement of our mineral resources and other forms of misconduct
by our rulers has been bane. Nigeria cannot claim not to have observed that
both big and small countries, among them Ghana, Ivory Coast, Republic of Benin,
America and the nations of Europe enjoy healthy economies.
But look at Nigeria,
Our mineral resources were trodden down, talking of equipment and facilities,
they are not maintained, serviced, or even monitored, and no one is bold enough
to question the authority of the people at the top because of the fear of
intimidation.
Nigeria is a
country where truth does not see the light of the day, while falsehood reigns.
Nigeria was once a producer nation, but has since become a consumer nation. The
option left for the four nations that make up Nigeria is to raise up the alarm
for own our independence. For those of us from Biafra land, we believe that the
time has come when we should go home and take our destiny into our hands. Apart
from effectively managing our mineral resources, we look forward to the
acceleration of the manufacturing of goods as we have the ability and capacity
with us in Biafra land.
Is it not a big shame that Nigeria despite being an
oil producing country, suffers greatly from fuel scarcity which routinely
caused by some unscrupulous citizens, because they know that their time of
piloting and diverting the mineral resources are short. Nigeria supplies
electricity to the Republic of Benin and they never experience incessant power
failure, whereas it is the order of the day in Nigeria. Even when we were
hosting the world during the 1999 world Youth Football Championship, NEPA did
what they know how to do best; they inflicted power outage on the Nnamdi
Azikiwe National Stadium Enugu. What a national disgrace!
What has the
Nigerian government been waiting for? If NEPA cannot supply electricity uninterrupted,
then it should be sold to individual / companies who could perform wonders and
supply incessant power to the masses. This ultimately would ensure progress and
a better life for the citizens.
I recall that as
far back as 1999 a former minister of power and steel under Olusegun Obasanjo Promised
to tackle the problem of NE within his first six months in office. Five years
after, nothing concrete has been done in this regard.
It is indeed a
thing of great sadness that 34 years after the civil war, the politicians have
learnt nothing as they remain greedy and continue to misplace priorities and
squander opportunities. At a time, they even mounted campaigns of calumny
against their fatherland, calling for ethnic war and also for sanctions to be
imposed on their country. Have the Nigerians seen Americans making such calls
and wishing their country such evils?
Have they learnt
their lessons now? If they have come to their senses, they should allow the
Biafrans and the three other nations in Nigeria to go without an atom of
trouble. Let them allow the Biafran to go and use the money accruing from their
mineral resources to develop their own countries, not other nations. Clearly,
it is quite unfair for the four nations to be forced to remain in the belly of
the fish, suffering for what they do not understand. I hope you are not
surprised that I am talking about four nations in the belly of the fish as it happened to Jonah in the Bible. We are
supposed to know that both Jonah and the big fish had no rest until the shark vomited
him out; it was then that he did what Yahweh required from him. Do those in
Nigerian government know what their destiny requires of them? As they failed to
marry their wife, they get their knife. In other words, Nigeria cannot have
peace because they failed to do things accordingly-that is-to divide Nigeria so
that the Biafrans will shake off anything Nigeria. The four nations I mentioned
are Biafra, Oduduwa, the Middle Belt and Arewa the federal government must
carve them out from Nigeria, then there will be authentic peace in Africa.
Biafrans are
actively agitating for freedom because Nigeria suffers from political
tuberculosis, political epilepsy, and political convulsions. The result has
been unwarranted death of citizens of the four nations in the belly of Fish (Nigeria),
especially the Biafrans. President Olusegun Obasanjo should divide Nigeria in a
peaceful manner inn order to clean his hands from the blood of NdiIgbo and the
entire Biafrans in Nigeria, otherwise the country Nigeria would be in great E
pestilence, famine, and catastrophe, instead of forging ahead as one entity. The
Almighty Yahweh has the interest of Biafra at heart because we are the children
of the passion or even the apple of his eyes. We have since been suffering in
the foreign land because of our disobedience towards the laws, ordinances and
the statutes of our father Yahweh, but today the outcry of the MASSOBIANS /BLO
has reached the high heaven and Yahweh has turned his face to wipe away our
tears for his steadfast love endures forever, (See Ezekiel 37 vs 15-28 and
Zechariah 8 vs 14-19).
Many right
thinking people like us are perplexed that the people of Nigeria prefer to vote
for or permit people of questionable character to occupy government seats. This
means that from local government up to federal level, the seat is a doomed
seat, and not the seat where the servants of Yahweh will sit without a total sanctification.
Directly or indirectly, Nigeria politics is not for the believers or the
righteous ones.
I have more to say on this
very important matter. I believe you’ll be interested in knowing what it is. If
that is the case, please catch me on this page next week. Have a blessed week.
