30th May 2015 Speech of Nnamdi Obodoechi (Ojukwu IgboNile)
N.O.O.I.N |
Fellow Biafrans and the friends of Biafra: Inasmuch as there was a
civil war in Nigeria, there was also a Country called BIAFRA. This is History
and it is a real fact.
On the 30th of
May, 1967; the Republic of Biafra was declared by Lt. Col Chukwu Emeka Odumegwu
Ojukwu to settle the scores which emanated from the immediate massacre of the
Igbos / Biafrans in Northern Nigeria.
The
Nomenclature came from the Bright of Biafra which is a part of the Atlantic Bay
on the Southern part of Nigeria. This name Biafra and its people were in
existence five thousand years ago.
The Republic
of Biafra lived from 30th May,
1967-15th of January
1970, after which the people were reintegrated into Nigeria.
Biafra
consisted mainly of South Eastern Region and some Idomah from the lower Benue
in Nigeria. Biafra predominantly inhabited by Igbo and other tribes that made
up of Biafra which are as follows: Ijaw, Ibibio, Ishan, Ishekiri, Efik, Urhobo,
Isoko, Anaang, Ekoi, Igbanke, and others.
The event that
led to the declaration of Biafra by Chukwu Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu who was Lt.
Col then, was caused by Col. Yakubu Gowon the then military President of
Nigeria. President Yakubu Gowon in totality rejected an Aburi Accord presided
over by Gen. Thomas Ankrah in Ghana. He rejected an Aburi accord because of the
British government headed by Prime Minister Harold Wilson’s evil advice not to
accept such formal peace agreement.
One of the
greatest enduring myths in Nigeria is the lie that Yakubu Gowon fought the
Nigeria-Biafra war to keep Nigeria united, whereas in reality not only did
Yakubu Gowon whose Northern region had originally intended to secede (Araba)
after the July 1966 counter coup cause an unnecessary war through his failure
of leadership, his aim for fighting the war after he bridged the Aburi Accord,
was never in the least a genuine desire to keep Nigeria United but purely
because of Northern economic interests.
The economic
interests of the hitherto secessionist North became the principal reason for
the volte face from secession to “One Nigeria” after the British government
advised the Northern leadership of the economic disadvantages of secession.
The great
mistake: The British colonialist in the person of Sir Fredrick Lord Luggard
with British government amalgamated the Southern and Northern Protectorates in
1914 into colony for economic reasons. The essence chiefly was to support the
North to survive economic hardships with the natural endowments of the southern
protectorate. It was an economic association, but; the people maintained
religious, societal and cultural differences.
The unity did
not work because the three major tribes: Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba did not accept
themselves as one. The reason Sir Fredrick Lord Luggard mixed Oil and water
together as he quoted that “South and North is like Oil and water mixed
together.’’ In my entire question: How can wild animals and domestic animals
live together in the same den without harming themselves? For this reason the
amalgamation of Nigeria 1914 which was expired in December 31st 2013, and such amalgamation was called
the great mistake of 1914 by Sir Ahmadu Bello-the Saduana of Sokoto, but nobody
has ever asked him why he called it the great mistake of 1914, even the same
mistakes are still occurring up till date. All these great mistakes made
the status quo remained like that throughout the nationalist era to
independence on October 1st 1960.
Amongst other
factors that brought problems in Nigeria at independence was representation in
the Federal civil services because the Igbos were occupied most of the civil
service in the North because they were highly intellectuals, and secondly the
Hausa had no skill to work.
The north felt
aggrieved that their people were not represented in the civil service as we can
see on the interview the white journalist granted Northern venerated leader,
Ahmadu Bello Saduana of Sokoto who at the initial state, called the
amalgamation of Nigeria 1914 “the great Mistake of 1914. As he said, “Well the
Igbos are more less the type of people who was desired mainly to dominate
everybody. If they go to village / town, they will like to monopolize
everything in that area. If you put them in labor farm as the Labourers, they
will try to emerge as the head men in that farm and so on.
Well in the
past our people were not aligned in their responsibility because as you can see
from modernization policy and in 1952 when I came here, there wasn’t
northerners in civil service here, then I fight to organize them now, all the
important posts are been held by the northerners. He further states that
instead of given Igbos, he preferred to give it to a hired person from another
country.’’
The
marginalization of the Igbos and other Biafrans in Nigeria is ceaseless to
couple with the massacre of Igbos and other Biafrans in the North. All
these problems brought the attention of Organization of African Unity (OAU) to
summon a series of peace talks, but to all were abortive. The last
meeting was rescheduled as the crisis grew wing, the military government that
took over from the first Republic decided to meet at Aburi Ghana in January
1967 as the meeting was summoned by the military governor of Eastern Region, Lt
Col. Chukwu Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
The essence of
the meeting was to restructure the Federal military service and to restore the
confidence in the young and diverse Nation called Nigeria- the name which Lord
Luggard gave the country meaning River Area or Niger area.
Aburi accord
also failed because the Nigerian government led by Gen. Yakubu Gowon did not
fulfill its own parts because the British government led by Prime Minister
Harold Wilson told not to do so.
On the 26th of May 1967, the Eastern Region voted
to stay away from Nigeria and have their own Nation, and on the 30th of May, Lt. Col Chukwu Emeka Odumegwu
Ojukwu Ojukwu-the People’s general, declared Eastern Region an Independent
state of Biafra to free the Easterners from the constant threat to their lives
by the Northerners.
The Republic of
Biafra was recognized by Cote d’ Voire, Gabon, Tanzania, and Zambia. The civil
war began in Nigeria on the 6th of
July 1967, when the Federal Military government led by Gen. Yakubu Gowon
decided to adopt a police measure to re-annex the Eastern Region which was
already a Republic ruled by the former eastern governor , Lt. Col Chukwu
Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu . The two sides waged the war till January 15 1970, when
the Federal government of Nigeria announced cessation of hostilities with the
phrase “No Victor, NO Vanquish.’’
O, this
reminds me the meaning of BRITISH, which I tagged as the bundle of ridiculous
people instigates trouble in some people’s homes.
No wonder Gen.
Chukwu Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu quotes “Nigeria is a stooge of Europe. Her
independence was and is a lie. Nigeria committed many crimes against her
nationals which in the end made complete nonsense of her claim to unity.
Nigeria persecuted and slaughtered her minorities; Nigerian justice was a
farce; her elections, her census, her politics - her everything - was corrupt.
Qualification, merit and experience were discounted in public service. In one
area of Nigeria, for instance, they preferred to turn a nurse who had worked
for five years into a doctor rather than employ a qualified doctor from another
part of Nigeria; barely literate clerks were made Permanent Secretaries; a
university Vice-Chancellor was sacked because he belonged to the wrong tribe.”
The Nigeria
civil war was a deliberate action to starve the Biafrans which claimed the
lives of 6 million Biafrans and properties worth of Billions of pounds were
destroyed.
The Eastern
Region (the home to the state of Biafra) quickly rose to a maximum capitalist
financial height few years after the war, after the introduction of Chief
Obafemi Awolowo to give every Biafran 20 Pounds, no matter how much the person
has in the Bank.
It was Chief
Obafemi Awolowo who starved the children of Biafra to death for he initiated
the idea of barricade against Biafra. This Yoruba man was also betrayed Chukwu
Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu when he was jailed in Calabar prison for Treasonable
Felony. The agreement he had with Ojukwu was to “Go to Lagos and declare
Oduduwa Republic, while I will declare the Republic of Biafra.’’ When Awolowo
got to Lagos, he accepted the offer from the Federal government of Nigeria as a
finance minister.
We the IPOB in
Greece humbly seeking the world assistance, mostly the KEERFA
Movement United against racism and the fascism threat, and the Greek
government to help Biafra to her freedom from Nigeria. Biafra have
suffered many catastrophes, mayhem and the killings of our beloved brothers,
sisters, even our children are been raped by the Hausa Boko Haram.
To dwell on
all these, I would like to mention one of the Biafran Veterans: BRUCE MAYROCK, a white Guy, who was 20
years old when he set himself ablaze in front of UNITED NATIONS BUILDING, while
demonstrating against the injustice meted out to Biafrans by Nigeria and the
British.
A young
student of Columbia University New York at the time, unfortunately he died the
same day as a result of the injuries he sustained. May your Soul Eternally
reign with our LORD in paradise where no political Racial, Tribal, Religious or
Economic domination will ever be tolerated? Amen! And other that fought so that we shall
live and here we are today honoring them for their good works and at same
virtue continue where they stopped. May their gentle souls rest in perfect
peace Iseeeeeee!
BIAFRA GA-ADI
for it is a compulsory duty of everybody in Biafra land. All must Hail Biafra
and whoever that hates to hail Biafra is our enemy! Try to figure them out
wherever they are.
Freedom for

are welcome in Biafran Rally today, we say freedom for all!
