PEOPLE
WHO CALL THEIR FELLOW AN ILLITERATE
I heard many learned
people calling their fellow an illiterate, why because they fell to know what
really the word is. Well considering one thing: Calling any person an
illiterate does not mean anything. One Igbo adage says "Ka ịma nkea, ịma
nke ọzọ." The word illiterate simply means a person who cannot read and
write his native language. If you describe someone as musically,
technologically, or economically illiterate, you mean that they do not know
much about music, technology, or economics.
Yes by calling somebody an illiterate because he or she did not go to school, makes no sense! For instance, an agriculturist who does not know anything regarding Geography is an illiterate in the field of Geography. Likewise in other areas of life!

This
simply proves that there is an atom of imperfection in the life of everybody.
When I started writing newly as a writer in my career, many critics comes from
every angle, calling me an illiterate, in order to pull me down but i rejected
and ignored them, but my most amazement, most of them could not define the word
illiterate with the level of education as they called themselves learned
people! I just let them know that an illiterate is the person who cannot read
and write his or her own language.
I
came across a wood carver in Nigeria, who stop in his primary school education,
but today most of the students who graduated from university are going there
for their youth service. They would have stop going there because the man does
not finished his primary education. The things of this world are like the left
hand is washing the right, while right hand also is washing the left. No one
should underrate each other so far this world exist. Education is not
Eduka-Uche and passing six is not passing sense! "Onye njem ka onye isi
awọ ihe mara."
There are some things, that person who you have called an illiterate will teach you and without him or her you will not understand it. Some are brainy but due some certain things, they dropped out of school. Be a silent listener wherever you go and learn from people, no matter the level of their education. We are created to help each other in life! Think about all these and come home! Look upon God who knows everybody. Just consider anybody very important to our society, stop underrating some people. Sometimes, we learn one thing or the other from the mad people, if not, where can you learn that particular thing!
