Why NNAMDI KANU

Will Not Betray

Biafra Struggle –

By Kingsley Ibeto

Before I begin to elaborate some reasons why I think Nnamdi Kanu will not betray or compromise his quest for the restoration of the sovereign state of Biafra, permit me to briefly profile him.

According to Wikipedia, Nwannekaenyi “Nnamdi” Kanu Okwu Kanu (born 1970s) is a British-Nigerian political activist. He is a leading member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and the director of London-based radio station Radio Biafra. Kanu was arrested o treason charges in Lagos on 14 October, 2015 and was detained in a Nigerian jail without trial for more than a year-and-half, despite various court orders that ruled for his release.

Now straight to the points:

1. OATH – An Oath is a pledge, a hypothecation. It is a promise of commitment backed by law and made before an immanent or localized deity. An immanent deity is omnipresent (the Most High God – Chukwuokikeabiama in Igbo) while a localized deity is that resident somewhere definite, which moves only when commissioned by its servant.

Whoever takes an oath is simply saying he is committed to a course/cause; he will not renege on his promise, and he acquiesces that there be consequences should he fail to keep it. Oath is so important that witnesses in Court are always reminded that they are under it.

Failure to keep the promise in oath taking may have negative consequences.

The concept of oaths is deeply rooted within Judaism. It is found in Genesis 8:21, when God swears that he will “never again curse the ground because of man and never again smite every living thing.

Haven known this, it is almost impossible for Mr. Nnamdi Kanu to compromise Biafra struggle.

2. ANNOUNCED HIS COMING TO NIGERIA: This is a shocker! How can a man announce on Radio Biafra his coming, which everybody knows if he touches Nigeria he will get arrested not minding the outcome of it. This shows how serious and determine he is. Beforehand, in some quarters, they were saying he can only stay in London to preach about Biafra; he cannot do it in Nigeria. Bla Bla Bla…

Kanu is presently in Nigeria. He has visited various states preaching Biafra. Recall that one of his bail conditions is that “He must not be in a crowd exceeding 10 persons.”

But he had been welcomed thousands of people. This is a clear indication that this man is ever ready and serious about Biafra restoration.

feasibly angry Kanu snapped back saying he would not be jailed by a “mad man.”

According to Kanu, “He wants to try me in the secret? They are killing my people, after killing my people you tell me you want to try me in secret?”

“The person is mad! Completely mad!! Tell Buhari that’s what I said, that he is mad! He cannot jail me, he is a mad man.”

“There is a contempt of court proceeding here, contempt of court, they don’t obey court order, and you’re telling me secret trial. Is the person mad? Rubbish! It is not possible.”

“When Buhari testified against me in public, what happened, why didn’t he guard his utterances?”

“He appoints judges, Buhari has been appointing judges in this country, he should stop intimidating judges that is rubbish! I cannot have it. Buhari can intimidate judges, not me (speaks Igbo).”

Honestly, I was wow when I watch the video of it. This shows that he knows what he is doing, he knows his rights, and he sounded and looked bold even in the President’s backyard – Abuja.

From thenceforth, I begin to believe this man and his determination.

4. IMPRISONED ALMOST 2 YEARS BUT DIDN’T SHOW ANY SIGN OF DROPPING HIS AGITATION: he didn’t show remorse, didn’t compromise, didn’t pleaded to be release rather he was in triumphant mood much later, saying, “I will rather remain in detention than subject myself to a trial that I know amounts to perversion of justice.

“I will not have a fair trial in this very court because information available to me indicates that I will not receive fair trial before this very judge.” That is the second time Kanu will see to the dismissal of a judge in his case.

With his mood, both facial and spoken words are enough reason one should not doubt his capability. Believe me, this man is a God sent…

5. REJECTED A LUCRATIVE OFFER: According to premium times, it was alleged that he was promised a huge sum of money and oil block to which to drop his agitation. What a whooping offer? But he turned down the offer. The report reads:

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), says he was made an offer in detention to secede with the five Igbo states but he rejected the offer because it did not constitute the complete territory of Biafra.

“They gave me Biafra in prison with only the five Igbo states; I said no, I want Benue and

3. “BUHARI IS MAD”: Reacting to Justice Binta Nyako’s ruling which allowed witnesses to testify against him in private, the Rivers states inclusive,” Mr. Kanu said, Wednesday while addressing leaders of an Igbo civil society coalition who visited him at his country home in Umuahia, Abia State.

The IPOB leader also said he was offered an oil block and mansions in Dubai to back out of the struggle for Biafra but that had also rejected the “Greek gift”.

“They can’t buy us with money. If I can turn down oil block, turn down mansions in Dubai, what can they offer us? All the roads in Biafra land are in deplorable condition, yet we have elites who are just interested in their pockets,” Mr. Kanu said.

He however did not disclose who made him the offers and how.

Indeed, they can’t buy him with money because he has Biafrans at heart. Accepting bribe would be the biggest betrayal ever.

6. AGITATION HAS GAIN MOMENTUM: Before now, few people talk about Biafra, radio station don’t report anything about Biafra, people in remote places don’t even talk or hear about it. But now Biafra agitation is a topic of discussion in radio stations where people call in to air their views.

Almost every day you will see Biafra in front pages of newspapers. Almost every newspaper stands you must certainly hear the word “Biafra” from their buca cavity. People are now proud of it. Women are now the wrapper designed with Biafra flag.

Guys are now putting the cap and the shoe on. Drivers are now mounting the flag on the dashboard of their cars. This is to show the extent the sensitization has gone courtesy of Nnamdi Kanu and other principal officers.

Betraying the struggle at this crucial moment is logically impossible. In fact, the odd for him to drop his agitation is uncountable.

He has consistently demanded for the date when referendum will be conducted so the people will decide where they belong.

7. GAINED MORE FANS SUPPORT AND POPULARITY: Yes, he has gained popularity both home and abroad. Some UK law makers have brought the case to floor of their parliament.

Amnesty International made an investigation and gave report that “The Nigerian security forces, led by the military, embarked on a chilling campaign of extrajudicial executions and violence resulting in the deaths of at least 150 peaceful pro-Biafra protesters in the south east of the country”.

CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera have reports about Biafra especially during Nnamdi Kanu’s arrest. The Indigenous People of Biafra which he leads has members around the world. Imagine a group that spread across not less than 120 countries. What a population? IPOB is in UK, Europe, Asia, Middle East, USA and many others across the world.

His wife, parents and all his family members are solidly behind. They consistently backed him. Radio Biafra has over 1.5 million active members (One of the biggest group on facebook) who also support him.

This support alone will make Nnamdi Kanu stronger and determined. He wouldn’t want to betray millions of fans all over the world. He wouldn’t want to betray his parents. He wouldn’t want to betray God who sent him especially at this stage.

Am dropping my pen here…..
