Fighting Corruption with Propaganda & Falsehood: $2trillion (N400trillion) Recovered Funds By EFCC In 12 Years
(Onitsha Nigeria, 3rd February
2016)-The advocacy attention of the
leadership of International Society for Civil Liberties & the Rule
of Law (Intersociety) has, again, been drawn concerning a public
sensitive report credited to the Attorney General of the Federation &
Minister for Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, to the effect that “the
Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had in the past 12 years
since its creation, recovered over $2trillion or N400trillion from Nigeria’s
criminal groups and public office holders”. The perfidiously false
report was published in the front page of the Vanguard Newspaper of today,
being 3rd of February 2016.
The AGF was copiously quoted by the Newspaper’s Ikechukwu
Nnochiri as having made the disclosure in a keynote address presented at the
‘First Annual Conference on Financial Fraud, Cyber-Crime & Other
Cross-border Crimes’, in Abuja, yesterday (2nd of February
2016. The AGF was specifically quoted as saying: “available reports
showed that in the past 12 years, since the establishment of EFCC, more than $2
trillion has been confiscated and recovered”. Full details of the AGF’s

We had in the course of issuance of this statement, gone
extra mile to confirm the authenticity of the AGF’s blundered figure
and his authorship; leading to the management of the Vanguard
Newspaper informing us this morning (3rd of February 2016) that
“the AGF was not misquoted” and that “it was contained in his
written keynote address” delivered at the said Abuja function. They also
informed us that “ before its publication, the reporter (Ikechukwu Nnochiri)
was specifically requested to scan and forward the said keynote speech
containing the “blundered version and figure” and he forwarded it immediately,
leading to the publication and its front page use.
We have severally stated publicly and still state that
“corruption is first driven by moral decadence or integrity crisis” and that
those wishing to fight the scourge must first be morally upright or integrity
rewarding. That is to say that “he or she that sets to go to equity, must go
with clean hands at all times”. A man or woman that shaves his or
her armpit hairs is not expectant of armpit dirt and offensive odour. A woman
who wears a stained white brazier does not wear short sleeve gown to an
occasion.
One of the greatest threats to fight against corruption is
falsehood and propaganda. Another is unclean hands of those fighting it and
those supporting those fighting it (i.e. CSOs and activists). One, out of
plethora of governance undoing of the Buhari administration is its adoption of
propaganda and falsehood as an official policy. A government that uses
propaganda and falsehood as its official policy has inexcusably exposed itself
before the citizens and international community as a government founded on
turbulence, brigandage, rascality and violence. A grave danger of using
falsehood and propaganda as official policy is that government utterances will
always be taken with a pinch of salt and made summarily dismissive even if any
is grounded on reality.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Nigeria’s Economic &
Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was established through an Act of the
National Assembly of Nigeria, dated 13th December 2002 (now
refers as “EFCC Act of 2004”) and it started its operations in 2003
or during the second term of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. The creation
of the Commission was partly in response to pressure from the Financial Action
Task Force on Money Laundering(FATF), which named Nigeria as one of
23 countries non-cooperative in the international community's efforts to fight
money laundering. The successes recorded by the Commission including loots
recovery and effective and maximum use of technology and institutional
mechanisms reached their peak between 2004 and 2007. The fame of EFCC and
others like NAFDAC, got shrank from 2008 and upwards; owing to election and
appointment of corruption friendly public officials as new set of heads of
Nigeria’s Presidency, AGF, NAFDAC, Police and EFCC.
Just yesterday, 2nd of February 2016, we
released a facts laden report of our recent investigation on the state of
public budgets, loans and expenditures in Nigeria in the past 12 years;
covering January 2005 to December 2016. The expenditures covered the 36 States,
the Federal Government, the Niger Delta, the Federal Capital Territory and the
country’s constitutionally recognized 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs). At the
end, we found that the totality of public expenditures in Nigeria in the past
12 years, captured by various FGN, States, FCT and Niger
Delta budgets and LGAs allocations in Nigeria in the past 12 years
(2005-2016) stood at $600billion or N118.2trillion.
We also found that Nigeria had in the past 10 years
(2007-2016) borrowed a total of N10trillion or $50billion from local and
international lending institutions. Of $600billion or N118.2trillion of the
public expenditures under reference, only 30% of same or $180billion
(N36trillion) was spent on capital projects. One of the reasons behind this
special investigation is to checkmate the antics of some propagandist
government officials and their unprofessional media acolytes, who recklessly
and mindlessly inflate and corrupt figures and other sensitive public matters
here and there for purposes of settling political scores and misleading
Nigerians and members of the international community. The report is published
on the electronic media below.
Using the foregoing indisputable statistics, therefore, it
is totally correct to say Nigeria and its federating units including States,
LGAs and Federal had never generated half of “$2trillion (N400trillion)” since
the return of civil rule in June 1999; not to talk of the EFCC recovering
“$2trillion in the past 12 years since its creation”.
Even if the total public expenditures of 2003 and 2004 are
added to the total public expenditures of $600billion or N118.2trillion under
reference; covering January 2005 to December 2016, the total public
expenditures including loans and generated funds; budgeted, allocated and
expended since then is not more than $700billion or N140trillion.
Our questions to the Honorable AGF and the Federal
Government are: where did “the
$2trillion (N400trillion)” the EFCC recovered in the past 12 years come from?
Where is it kept? Was it recovered from “looted” personnel cost budgets or
overheads cost budgets? Or was it recovered from meager $180billion
(+$30billion allocated for capital expenditures for 2003 and 2004) meant for
capital expenditures from January 2005 to December 2016? Was it also recovered
from oil bunkering? What are Nigeria’s total public expenditures from its three
tiers since 2003? How much was recovered from “criminal groups” as well as
“from public office holders”?
We challenge the AGF as well as the authorities of the
EFCC to rubbish this position of ours by providing publicly concrete answers to
the above questions and graphic details of how, where and when the EFCC
recovered “$2trillion or N400trillion from criminal groups and public office
holders” in the past 12 years, as well as statistical breakdown of the amount
and how it was recovered, kept or spent. Also, “in the past 12 years since its
(EFCC) creation”, requires detailed specification, as in from what year to what
year did the 12 years cover? We will not be surprised if defense of
“being quoted out of context” is invoked by the AGF as an escape route. If this
type of unpardonable falsehood can be dished out by the country’s law-lord or
chief law officer, then Nigeria is doomed irreparably!

HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE BIAFRA STRUGGLE?
It is in the Blood. You don't just wake up and join a struggle. There must be the passion. My heart bleeds whenever I wake up and see underage Biafran Children suffer in the street and do not have a choice; because they have to help their Parents put Food on the table. It hurts me a lot. The marginalization of Biafrans, really hurts me.
A LOT OF SPECULATIONS HAS BEEN MADE AS TO WHY THE VOICES OF "THE KANUS" HAS NOT BEEN HEARD, NOT UNTIL THE DETENTION OF MAZI NNAMDI KANU. DID "THE KANUS" JOIN THE STRUGGLE BECAUSE OF THE DETENTION OF MAZI NNAMDI KANU'?
When it comes to a struggle, there are a lot of Silent Dedicated and Passionate people who have done a lot, more than people you get to hear from on a daily basis. We have been doing everything within our reach to uphold the Biafran struggle.
THE NIGERIA GOVERNMENT CHARGED MAZI NNAMDI KANU FOR TREASON, LABELLING THE AGITATION OF BIAFRA A TREASONABLE OFFENCE. WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON THE CHARGES?
It is very funny. How can they charge him for treasonable offence? When under the International Law and UN Charter Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,did absolutely nothing. Nigeria is also a signatory to the UN Charter. Everybody saw Mohammadu Buhari's testimony calling and soliciting that Palestinians should be granted Freedom. So why can't same happen in Nigeria? Nnamdi Kanu went there with David Nwawuisi that was charged for treason as well. David Nwawuisi is a Young Engineer who was asked to mount Transmitters and the mounting of transmitters was labeled a treasonable offence. But Bokoharam has been going around killing everyday and the President of Nigeria Mohammadu Buhari has called for dialogue and wants to grant them amnesty. They are killing unarmed Biafrans who their only crime is calling for the release of their Leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Very sad.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THE CLAMPDOWN OF UNARMED BIAFRANS JUBILATING OVER THE RELEASE OF MAZI NNAMDI KANU?
Honestly it is sad and I am extending my heartfelt sympathy to the Families of those who loosed their Children as regards to the protest. Unarmed Biafrans jubilating for the release of the Leader Of The Indigenous People Of Biafra, who were killed by the Nigeria force,i will say to them that, in their deaths Biafra must be restored. We will always remember them and their families should know that, they may have died but their deaths is not in vain. I want their Families to know that, in us they still have their Sons and Daughters back.
A LOT OF BIAFRANS WHO ARE BITTERED OVER THE KILLINGS OF UNARMED BIAFRAN PROTESTERS ARE PLEADING THAT THEY SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO DEFEND THEMSELVES FROM NIGERIA FORCE. WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON IT?
In my opinion we should continue doing non-violence, but this is for me and I don't know about the others. I don't have the power to stop millions of IPOB members. According to the UN Charter the Indigenous People of Biafra have the right to Self-Defence. But my piece of advice will be to follow and to adhere to the instructions of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. In other to prove to the World that we are not terrorist, the more they are killing us, the more we are coming out. How many Biafrans will the Nigeria Government kill? I am calling on the United Nations, Amnesty International, World Leaders, Human Right Activist all over the World, Men and Women of good conscience, to come to the rescue of Biafrans because the Nigeria military want to terminate Biafrans from the surface of the earth. The genocide that happened in 1967-1970 is repeating itself again and I am believing that Eze Chukwuokikeabiama will never abandon us.
SOME NIGERIA POLITICIANS AND THEIR ALLIES STATED THAT, THOSE AGITATING FOR BIAFRA ARE MISCREANTS AND ATTENTION SEEKERS. WHAT IS YOUR REACTION TO THAT STATEMENT?
They are talking garbage. It is rubbish they are talking about. We know what we want for sure. Biafra is our goal and aspiration and there is nothing anybody can do about it. We have the right to call for the sovereign State of Biafra. We don't have good roads, we don't have anything. There is no infrastructure in Biafra, which you all know. For how long are we going to suffer? Someone has to rise up and say no to injustice against the Biafran people and that is what we are doing collectively and believe you me, the Biafra that we are agitating for must be restored. Most of this people tagging Biafrans to be miscreants and fraudsters are the people who have embezzled the public funds. They are people who have sold their conscience for a Sachet of Water. They are the people who cannot stand for the kids. They are the people who does not care for the poor masses. We don't have the basic necessities of Life in Biafraland. There is no water and I can go on and on, but what I have to say in regards to that is, they should be ignored because they are evil. They care about their immediate families and not other people.

We have always live together as one people, with the Ijaws,Igbanke,Ibibios,Efiks and other Biafrans. But thank God for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu the Leader Of The Indigenous People Of Biafra and the Icon of Radio Biafra,who has been able to enlighten us more and I think our people have assimilated it and we have known that we are one people. We might not be united some years back, but not anymore. Since the inception of Radio Biafra, a lot has been exposed to us. And if we don't love ourselves as they claimed, then why are we dying for the sake of Biafra and the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu? We are very much united.
FOLLOWING THE DEMOLITION OF PROPERTIES BELONGING TO BIAFRANS IN LAGOS STATE, WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE DO YOU HAVE TO GIVE TO BIAFRANS INVESTING IN SOUTH-WEST AND NORTHERN PART OF NIGERIA?
I am advising them to come back home and invest. The Nigeria Government has abandoned us in terms of everything, so they have to come back home and invest. Let them make home their headquarters, because if anything happens, Biafrans are always the number one target. Our people should be able to learn and not wait for somebody to always speak to them. These incidents have been happening for years, the KANO RIOT and a lot of them. Yorubas and Arewas have been issuing out warnings. But,let's not forget that the Divide and Rule system forced our people to leave their homes, in search of greener pastures. We don't have infrastructures, we have millions of unemployed graduates in Biafraland,but I'm begging them to come back home.

our custom. They should remain resolute and at the end we must win. Nobody gets

The Nigerian Defence Academy has reacted to the video that went viral yesterday showing army Cadets torturing a young man for saying a female officer was beautiful. According to a statement by the Academy, preliminary investigation so far shows that the incident happened somewhere in Lagos in 2014. The statement reads;
“The attention of The Nigerian Defence Academy has been drawn to a trending video showing Cadets beating some persons. Please note that NDA is investigating the incident. Preliminary investigation has confirmed the incident to have occurred in 2014 somewhere in Lagos while the Cadets were on break. NDA as a responsible institution saddled with task of producing future military leaders will not in anyway tolerate such unruly and flagrant mistreatment of Nigerians. The NDA under current leadership has addressed most disciplinary loopholes. Further investigation is continuing. Please assist and circulate”.

Source VanguardBy Nkiru Nnorom & Nwabueze Okonkwo ONITSHA—The directorate of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has accused Justice John Tsoho of the Abuja Federal High Court 3 of bias for ruling that their leader, Nnamdi Kanu will not be granted bail based on reasons that Kanu was a threat to national security; that if released, he might commit the same offence again and that there was a probability that he might jump bail because he possessed dual citizenship. Faults reasons for bail denial In a press statement issued yesterday from its London headquarters, via e-mail, signed by its spokespersons, Emma Nmezu and Dr. Clifford Chukwuemeka Iroanya, IPOB said for denying Kanu bail based on these three cardinal points, the ruling of the judge was inappropriate, biased, wrong, and must be overturned by an Appeal court Judge. According to the statement, “While the first and the third reasons are very clear, we are at loss with the second reason and do not know exactly what the Hon. Justice meant by “might commit the same offence again. “To the best of our knowledge, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has not even been tried in court not to talk of being convicted to have warranted the judge saying that ‘he might commit the same offence again.’ “Therefore, we do not understand the offence he was found guilty of committing and for which he will likely commit again if released, as Justice John Tsoho mentioned in his ruling.” The statement asked rhetorically: “Is there a possibility that Justice John Tsoho misspoke or that he never actually uttered this travesty of a statement? On the first reason adduced that Kanu was a threat to national security, we are yet to get detailed information on what the Judge meant by ‘threat to national security’ because we know that Kanu is not associated with Boko Haram or any terrorist organization and as such, we, again are pushed to believe that Justice Tsoho misspoke. “Finally, on the third reason, we are shocked to hear that a denial of bail will be based on the accused person’s dual citizenship. Even though the Judge did not mention the other country to which Kanu is a citizen, we know he was referring to Britain. But we also know that there is extradition agreement between Nigeria and Britain and extraditing Kanu to Nigeria should he flee to Britain will not be a problem for the Nigerian government, so long as the extradition agreement between the two countries is still intact.”

The group, which goes by the name Rufasca and is working for the independence of the people of Southern Cameroon, has reportedly entered into an alliance with the Biafra Nations Youth League (BNYL), one of the groups currently campaigning for the resuscitation of Biafra Republic, which existed from 1967 to 1970 before surrendering to superior federal forces. “Rufasca is seeking to collaborate with us in the best interest of the people of Southern Cameroon otherwise known as Ambazonia,” BNYL National President, Comrade Prince Chimezie Obuka, told News Express. “Rufasca has not only allied with us, but they are now part of BNYL representing the interest of Ambazonia. With them in the movement and the BNYL at large, the Nigerian Government will find it difficult denying Biafra access to the sea,” Obuka said. He disclosed that a Rufasca delegation will attend the BNYL Congress scheduled to hold on February 27, 2016 in Ikom, Cross River State. Ihedioha Slams Okorocha Over Sacking Of 3000 Imo Workers Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has been accused of allegedly collaborating with Kosovo, Turkey, Croatia and other countries to carry out human organs trafficking.
This
accusation was made by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), through the
chairman of the Private and General Medical Practitioners in the state, Dr
Philip Njemanze, Nigerian Pilot reports.
Njemanze,
who spoke during a press conference after an emergency meeting of the
association in Owerri, the state capital, said: “For the first time in human
history, a government has declared itself an organ trafficking cartel. Imo
state government is using the state health facilities to facilitate organ
trafficking network.
“Foreign
collaborators of the state government from Turkey, Kosovo, Croatia and others
are already here in Imo to perfect creation of the network. It is an
international network with Rochas as its local head. A former prime minister of
Kosovo is the head of organ trafficking in Europe and he is a friend of
Okorocha.”
The
aggrieved medical practitioner also alleged that Governor Okorocha’s recent
trips to Turkey, Kosovo, Croatia and other Latin American and Asian countries
as well as the building of the new 27 general hospitals in the state, are
testament to the fact that the governor is party to organ trafficking business
in the state.
When
contacted, Sam Onwuemedo, the governor’s senior media adviser explained through
a text message that the allegation “is an old story that is being handled by
the DSS.”
This
allegation is coming following reports in the state that a refusal of the
governor to recall the 3000 workers he allegedly sacked will lead to a total
shutdown of activities in the state.
According
to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), there would be a total shut down of Imo
state once the 14-day ultimatum issued to the state government to recall the
sacked workers and tackle their unpaid salaries and other benefits expires.

and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Mr Igwe Achese, a member of the 6-man action
committee set up by NLC to handle the Imo crisis, told Vanguard that all
measures had been put in place for the planned action.

On December 4, 2015 OEAS issued a demand for a snap

addition to calling for the release of all Biafran political prisoners, and a
snap referendum held in 90 days for Biafra’s independence, the OEAS had earlier
called on the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and
Security to use her office to help bring their struggle to fruition.
The situation is deteriorating and violence against
the Biafrans is escalating. Many Biafrans have reached out to me about the lack
of resources, the continued marginalization. I have contacted the United Nations
World Food Programme which is currently evaluating the needs to mobilize
resources in this critical situation. Many deaths have occurred and injuries
inflicted since that time of the EU calling for a referendum in 90 days
including a seven year old child and a young man protester gruesomely beheaded
in a circle of jackals for carrying a Biafran Flag. Protesters have been
advised that the military will take action against them for protesting in this
democracy “Nigeria.” The student protesters have not engaged in violence
whatsoever but have maintained composure in the face of enticement and
entrapment to jeopardize the referendum. They have endured their fallen
colleagues departure and increased oppression as retaliatory measures increase
as a strategy of intimidation.
This week alone many calls have
taken place from the United States as well as People all over the World
reaching out to the US Government, United Nations and European Parliament
concerning the snap referendum Biafra. We are lobbying with the People of
Biafra for this snap referendum. The deadline according to my calculations is
rapidly approaching 3 March 2016 as this is 90 days from the demand which was
granted. President Buhari to our collective knowledge has not made any gestures
towards abiding by the call of the EU for the referendum. The Biafrans demands
an internationally recognized referendum and we want this for them as well.
Protesting is not a crime and it is not punishable by death other than in a
draconian Kingdom of Nigeria. I have never heard of protesters being shot and
killed in a democracy ever before in my life. Tragic endings to beautiful
lives. Why? Because they cried out from oppression, captivity and dreamt of a
better life. Please accelerate the process. Time is of the essence. We have
witnessed videos and pictures of countless unarmed students injured as well as
dying in their own blood for exercising free speech in a peaceful protest. We
have seen gunshots directed at unarmed gatherings merely singing and
fellowshipping. We all beg you to facilitate this process in an effort to avoid
further human casualty.
'Revolution Is A Weapon Of Change ' – TB

general overseer of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations, Prophet T. B. Joshua,
predicted a revolution in Nigeria.

noted that unlike with protests, revolution cannot be stopped because everybody
is ready to die.
“At the
beginning of every revolution, it looks like protest. It might be stopped at
the beginning. Eventually, it will become so big that it cannot be stopped.
This I see happen. Nigeria, pray! All over the world, it will move from one
country to another,”he said.
However, the
prophet noted that God gave Nigerians a way out: job creation for the youth and
the creation of a new social value system.
“You know the
reason why the youth turn to thugs. People in power in political offices are
not ready to retire. Nobody is ready and the youth – they are jobless. They are
supposed to be included in the system, because when the people up there have
not retired, there are no offices for youth, new people, new intake.”
“No matter the
education the youth have, they feel they have no place in politics and there is
no job to keep them busy. There are must be a new orientation,” the prophet concluded.
According to
T.B. Joshua, in politics young people should be considered for important
positions such as assistants to elders.
“While the
elders are ministers, the youth should be junior minister. This little example
of being junior ministers can change the situation of things. Tell you
president. Tell your leaders. Tell your prime ministers all over the world. I
every department of government or politics, the youth should be junior
assistants to the leaders of such departments,” he stressed.
Finishing his prophecy, he said: “Revolution
is a weapon of change that is coming. This is a vision. I am not preaching or
teaching. This is what I saw.”

DR. IFEANYI ARTHUR OKOWA AND HIS DISJOINTED UNDERSTANDING OF THE GEOGRAPHY OF THE NATION OF BIAFRA.
On Wednesday, February 3, 2016 during his first interactive session with journalist at the Government House in Asaba in Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa made the following statements;
“Delta State has never been, and is not part of the South East. Biafra agitation, wecriticize it. Anioma land as it is said, was part of Bendel State; we were part of the MidWest State, we have not been part of the South East. So obviously, we cannot be said to be part of them (Biafra). We may speak a similar language, but we are not part of the South East. We were part of the Mid-West, now we are Deltans.”
Dr. Okowa, who is the current governor of Delta State, was just two days short of his 8th birthday when Yakubu Gowon-led Nigerian Armed Forces invaded Biafraland on July 6, 1967. But considering the fact he attended the famous Edo College in Benin City in the 1970’s, he should have learned a bit about the history of his own people and the Nigerian war of genocide against Biafra. The statements of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa indicate that he is either pretending not to know the history of his people or he is making such statements to please his Northern Nigeria friends and supporters. Is Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa saying that Biafra is all about the South East? If so, is he asserting that Capt. Anuku, Col. Mike Okwechime, Col. Joe Achuzia, Major Chukwuma Nzeogwu,Col. Conrad Nwawo, Col. Ben Nwajei, and other Biafrans from the present-day Delta State were recruited into the Biafran Military as mercenaries? Even the name “Anioma”, does that name sound like Oduduwa, Bini or Arewa to Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa? Furthermore, does the first name of Dr. Okowa which is “Ifeanyi” sound like a Hausa name? Because Yakubu Gowon forced the people of current Delta State into alliance with the Binis and named them Mid-West, does that remove their Biafranness? Perhaps, we would like to remind Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa that in Delta State, there is a community called “Igbo bi na uzo”which is shortened as Igbouzo or anglicized as Ibusa, which is where Prof Pat Utomi comes
from. As someone from Owa Kingdom, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa should know that his roots is to ancient Eri Kingdom and genealogically, he is from the Igbo-speaking area of the nation of Biafra. May we ask Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who was elected the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo on November 29, 2008?
Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is deepening the identity crisis engendered on the so-called Niger Delta or “South-South” by the British and Northern Nigeria which has culminated in sowing seeds of discord, hatred, and mutual suspicion among fellow Biafrans. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa by his misguided utterances has shown disdain for God’s creation because he is mocking God’s efforts in making people of the same descent to speak the same language. It is laughable that Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is behaving as if he will be the person to determine for all Biafrans, to be or not to be part of their God-given nation of Biafra.
We therefore, advise Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to desist from mocking and challenging God and His creation. We are hereby educating Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa that Biafra’s footprints cover the entire South East and all of the so-called South-South with the exception of Edo State but with the inclusion of Igboakiri or Igbanke as is presently called. We further educate Dr. Ifeanyi
Okowa that Biafra also includes Idoma land and Igala land.
Finally, we advise Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to concentrate on his primary function of lifting up the quality of lives of the Biafran people in the present-day Delta State while we steadily and successfully go through excision of Biafra from the British contraption called Nigeria. The restoration of the Nation of Biafra is unstoppable, unquenchable, irrevocable,irreversible, and a continuum. We are not going to leave any Biafran behind and that includes the entire Delta State. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa should better shape up or ship out!

The Customary Government of Indigneous People of
Biafra (IPOB) yesterday frowned on the statement
credited to the Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, that Delta State is
not part of Biafra.
Governor Okowa had last week warned pro-Biafra agitators that no part of his state was part of the Biafran republic being canvassed, nor would he cede any part of Delta State either, to the cause. A statement signed by the IPOB media representative, Asuzu Chinedu Peters, obtained by The AUTHORITY, advised Governor Okowa to stop re-writing history and misleading the public. He said that Okowa was not speaking for the people of Delta but for himself and probably for some cabals as Biafra existed before Nigeria. The statement read in part: “Governor Okowa’s position is unfortunate and misleading and could not represent the opinion of millions of Delta people spread across the world. “As far as we are concerned, Governor Okowa is speaking for himself and few cabal(s) in Delta State eating fat from the blood of the poor masses. “We want to remind governor Okowa that Biafra has existed before Lord Luggard founded Nigeria. The decision on who joins the new Biafra should not be made by the governor but by the people of which majority are hungry and poor. “Going down the historical lane, Nigeria was created out of three main Kingdoms (nations) as clearly shown in Maps of Africa before Berlin Conference 0f 1884-1885 (the place where African boundaries were destroyed). “The three Kingdoms are Biafra, Benin and Zamfara. He narrated how Delta was formerly a
part of the then Mid-Western Region, then the defunct Bendel State, before it
was created alongside Edo State.
According to Okowa, “Biafra agitation, we criticise it. Anioma land as it is
was part of Bendel State; we were part of the Mid-West State, we have not been
part of the South East. So obviously, we cannot be said to be part of them (Biafra).

A
shocking yet revealing phone conversation between two politicians has gone
viral.
In the
audio conversation, which is currently circulating on BlackBerry Messenger and
Whatsapp, a Northern politician identified as a People’s Democratic Party
member is speaking with another politician from the South West by name, Kunle.
The
20.38-minute audio recording, which appears to have been made by one of the
parties or an eavesdropper, the Northern politician, identified simply as
Alhaji, reveals the sinister plot of the Northern politicians to attack the
business interests of the people from the South East and South South region of
the country.
Our
investigations have led us to the source of the audio, who does not wish to be
named. The Trent can authenticate that the recording is a real
telephone conversation that happened just after the inauguration of
of President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29, 2015.
Alhaji
takes time to reveal the plot of the Northern elites to frustrate people from
the South East and South South of Nigeria and revealed that there is a Satanic
alliance with some elements of the South West to also join in frustrating the
South Easterners and denying them their rights under the constitution to live
anywhere they wish and do business anywhere in Nigeria.
The
Alhaji reveals that this plan to ‘destroy the Igbos (which means anybody from
the South East or South South)’ is central to the strategy of the All
Progressives Congress. He also reveals that former Governor Tunde Fashola, of
the APC, used the last four years of his tenure in office to execute this plot
to destroy the business base of the “Igbos”. He also revealed that the plot
includes arson against the markets dominated by “Igbos” in Lagos and denying
“Igbos” business licences, even though they qualify for them.
Alhaji,
who obviously did not know he was being recorded, went on to reveal a deep
hatred by the Northern politicians for the people of the South East and South
South. He revealed that if President Goodluck Jonathan had won the March 2015
elections, “they” would have caused Boko Haram to “spread to Kano, to Gombe, to
Sokoto, and all over” in order to frustrate Jonathan’s government.
This,
in essence, confirms suspicions that Boko Haram and the carnage that the
Islamist terrorist group has unleashed on the people of the North East and
other parts of Northern Nigeria is a political tool in the hands of the
power-hungry elite of the North.
He also
mentioned that Jonathan would probably have been killed in office if he
remained as President beyond 2015.
Alhaji,
who is well spoken, revealing that he is part of the Northern elite made it
known that the Northern politicians in the APC do not trust Imo governor,
Rochas Okorocha and former Rivers Governor, Rotimi Amaechi. He says, “they are
just there, nobody trusts them”. Such comments are instructive especially
against the backdrop that Amaechi is acknowledged by chieftains of the APC to
have bankrolled 80% of Buhari’s campaign.
In
detail, Alhaji reveals that ‘the North’ preferred former Kano Governor, Rabiu
Kwankwaso because he is radical and had begin to implement some of the plans of
alienating people from the South East and South South from Kano. He said that
had it not been for Bola Tinubu’s support for Buhari, Kwankwaso would have won
the APC presidential ticket in the party’s primary of 2014 held in Lagos.
Alhaji
goes on to reveal some long-standing ethnic suspicions between the major ethnic
groups in the country. “Who doesn’t have ancestors? Don’t we all have
ancestors?” He asked in frustration. He then went on to complain why
attempts to buy land from the Igbos ends in rejection “because the ancestors
say they shouldn’t sell the land.”
He also
claimed that the gang-up against President Goodluck Jonathan in the last
election was also religious. According to him, the Muslims in the South-West
teamed up with the Muslims in the Northern part of Nigeria to vote out
President Jonathan because he was a Christian who empowered the people of the
South East, against the original Northern domination plan of keeping the Igbos
under subjugation.

jamming of Radio Biafra program last year, the Nigeria government bought over
Satelink of Israel, the company carrying Radio Biafra short wave signals, and
they removed our signals from their satellite. [However, as a punishment
Chukwuokikeabhiama removed Satelink satellite from the orbit and it got missing
till date] In its place Radio Biafra floated another short wave stations that
broadcasts for three hours every day instead of two hours earlier with satelink
and two cable stations instead of one, when they tried to bribe 'Tunein' [our
signals carrier on cable network] to bring Radio Biafra signals down. So on the
whole, all their expenditure and investment to jam and neutralise Radio Biafra
came to naught. Now this is 2016 and NBC have a new budget.

judgement on the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu and

his government have concluded plans to classify "the rights of Indigenous
people to self determination" as promulgated by the United Nations Charter

the Indigenous people of Biafra to self determination, then, the "UN

have been undermined.
The time to step in and stop Nigeria
government on its track is now. United Nations should not allow Nigeria corrupt
government of General Mohamadu Buhari who is an illiterate and an abuser of the
rule of law, (having disobeyed several court orders from courts
of competent jurisdiction) to abuse the Charter of the United Nations

Treasonable offences
According to chapter 6 of Nigeria's Criminal Code Act,
a person is charged with treason offences if:
Levies war against the state, in order to intimidate or overawe the president or the governor of a state. Conspires with any person, either within or without Nigeria, to levy war against the state with the intent to cause such levying of war. Instigates any foreigner to invade Nigeria with an Armed Force. Becomes an accessory after the fact to treason; or knowing that any person intends to commit treason, does not give information thereof with all reasonable despatch to the President or the Governor of the State or a peace officer, or use other reasonable endeavours to prevent the commission of the offence.
Unlawful Societies
According to chapter 9 of Nigeria's Criminal Code Act,
a society is unlawful if formed for:
Levying war or encouraging or assisting any person to
levy war on the Government or the inhabitants of any part of Nigeria; or
killing or injuring or encouraging the killing or injuring of any person; or destroying or injuring or encouraging the destruction or injuring of any property; or subverting or promoting the subversion of the Government or of its officials; or committing or inciting to acts of violence or intimidation; or (f) interfering with, or resisting, or encouraging interference with or resistance to the administration of the law; or disturbing or encouraging the disturbance of peace and order in any part of Nigeria; or if declared by an order of the President to be a society dangerous to the good government of Nigeria or of any part thereof.
PUNISHMENT IF FOUND GUILTY:
According to Section 41 of the criminal code, a person found guilty of treasonable offences can be sentenced to life imprisonment. If the defendant is acquitted, they cannot be tried for treason related to the same facts.
Section 63 says that a person who manages or assists
in the management of an unlawful society is guilty of a felony and is liable to
imprisonment for seven years.
According to section 47 of the
Customs and Excise Management Act, a person who imports or causes to be
imported concealed goods or goods found "not to correspond with the entry
delivered thereof" can be sentenced to five years in prison without the
option of paying a fine.
On
Day-1 (February 9th, 2016) of our 4-day protest, a combined team of the Police
and Army shot dead 8 persons in Aba while Abia state, Imo state, Igwuocha
coordinators including other members were taken away. They also took the
corpses without letting any one picture them.
In addition, the military also set National high school Aba ablaze and will tell the world that IPOB did it. The world must know the truth, including what Buhari and his murderous agents are doing in Biafraland.

The Federal High Court on Tuesday, February 9, stood down the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu.

The judge over the case, John Tsoho on entering the court said the matter will be stood down till 12pm.
“I am sorry the case has been stood down for other matters to be attended to,” Tsoho said.

Meanwhile, kanu who appeared in court in white brocade threaded with silver embroidery had gone into the courtroom on handcuffs.
A rare sight as prison officials always remove handcuffs from accused persons in the premises before they are allowed into the courtrooms.

He was also denied bail on submissions that would escape trial being in possession of a British passport and that the allegations against him are grave and a threat to national security.
The judge added that the rights of an individual does not supersede the peace and security of a nation.

The court reduced an application by Kanu for the release of his passports.
Kanu’s lawyer, Chuks Muoma had asked the court to release some documents belonging to his defendant.
Muoma had in an application prayed the court to release money and two passports – Nigerian and British – collected from the first defendant (Kanu) upon his arrest. He also objected to the application for a secret trial of his client.
But the judge, Tsoho in his ruling said the application lacked merit.
Tsoho said: “There is no doubt that the accused have been charged before this court. It is erroneous to say that application for the release of these documents should not be made to this court.”

The judge however said that Muoma’s submission that evidences not listed on the charge can be returned to the accused person.
Quoting Diri, the judge said it is a mere conjecture by the defense to say that these evidences will not be used by the court.
He added that such applications can come after the prosecution has ended its case thereby allowing the defense to open their case.
The court further rejected the application for the release of the documents and adjourned the case to Friday, February 19 for hearing on the application on secret trial.

BREAKING! Biafra: Army Kill 4 Peaceful Protesters in Aba; Scores Tear-gassed, Arrested in Enugu

The Nigeria Army have killed four unarmed Pro-Biafra protests in Aba. The heavily armed soldiers invaded National high school Aba where IPOB members were gathering for their protest, shooting live bullets at Biafrans which resulted in the death of four people. They also took away about 20 peaceful pro-Biafra protesters.
Recall that Aba is one of the cardinal place IPOB protest is billed to hold, and as at 9am people were already gathering in Aba for the peaceful protest. By 12:46, soldiers disrupted the peaceful protester in Aba, shooting sporadically at Biafrans.
According to an eyewitness: “In what appeared to be a war zone, six unarmed IPOB have been gunned down although not yet confirmed dead or alive. The soldiers who are very determined to carry on their genocide as commanded by Buhari have shown a clear intent to massacre innocent and peaceful protesters.”
Another protester and eye-witness, said three coordinators of IPOB have been arrested while every effort to rescue those gunned down failed due to the ceaseless shots at Biafrans by the military.
In a related development, Enugu is under heavy bombardment by Soldiers. Though no death has been seen but there is a heavy attack on peaceful Biafran protesters right now in Enugu. As the ongoing effort to clamp down on Biafran peaceful protesters which has resulted to the death of many protesters, There have been gun shots in the air though not as sporadic as Aba. Many Biafrans have been wounded by tear gas while some were beaten and arrested by a combined team of Nigerian forces.
An eyewitness at Aba protest ground said the following:
"Army man told me yesterday that reason why they withdrew them from north east to southeast is to kill any one who mentioned Biafra. He said that the orientation giving to them by Buhari was that since one of their main duty is to defend the unity of this country there is no need keeping them in the north, afterall boko haram is never a threat to the unity of Nigeria but Biafra.
Go and kill them without mercy, we can take care of bokoharams, Buhari told them. He said that am very lucky he is not with a gun, my life would have been wasted. The army personnel said they have come to revenge the death of their Boko Haram brothers on Biafrans."

Biafra: Buhari Ask Court To Conduct Secret Trial On

The
Nigerian government has asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to conduct a secret
trial to cross-examine witnesses in the ongoing case of alleged treasonable
felony and other charges against leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi
Kanu.
Mr.
Kanu and two others, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, are facing charges
of alleged treason, maintaining unlawful society, possession of firearms, among
others.
Counsel
to the federal government, who is also the Director of Prosecution in the
office of the Attorney General, Mohammed Diri, asked the court at the opening
of session to permit the conduct of secret trial for the protection of
witnesses.

But
counsel to the first defendant, Chuks Muoma, opposed the application for secret
trial, saying military personnel were already providing adequate security
during the trial.
He
however prayed the court to order the return of $2,200; N87,000 and two
international passports collected from Mr. Kanu upon his arrest.
Mr.
Muoma said the prosecution, despite collecting the said amount and items, had
deliberately avoided stating anything regarding them in its affidavit.
He
prayed the court to order the return of the item, stressing that the
allegations against his client were yet to be proven in court.

Mr.
Diri however objected, stating that the defendants had the right, as stipulated
in Section 10 (7) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, to ask for
their items, from the prosecution.
In his
response, Mr. Mouma said it is only the court that can grant the relief sought
by his client.
The
trial judge, Justice John Tsoho, ruled that the submission of the prosecution
counsel that the application for release of his client’s items should be made
to the office of the AGF was wrong.
Mr.
Tsoho noted that since the defendants had been brought before the court of law,
the manner of making the application for retrieval of items was duly made.
He
however ruled that since evidences were yet to be tendered before the court on
the matter, it would be improper to assume that the items were not important to
the prosecution.

“I hold
a humble view that just as the prosecution is not to be confined to the number
of witnesses it can bring before a court, its number of evidences cannot also
be limited,” said Mr. Tsoho.
The
matter was adjourned to February 19 for ruling on the application for secret
trial.
Education:
Why South-west And North Should Be Worried
PunchNG: Last week, the 2015 West African Senior
School Certificate of Education result was released. The Punch chose to publish
the story with an attention-grabbing headline: “Again, South-East leads in the
WASSCE performance chart.” The report showed that Abia State dethroned Anambra.
The states were ranked according to the percentage that had a minimum of five
credits, including in English Language and Mathematics.
But the surprise in the report was that almost like in
2014, no South-West state except Lagos was on the top 10 of the chart. The top
10 states were the five South-East states, four South-South states and Lagos:
1st – Abia (63.94 per cent), 2nd – Anambra (61.18 per cent), 3rd – Edo, 4th –
Rivers, 5th – Imo, 6th – Lagos, 7th – Bayelsa, 8th – Delta, 9th – Enugu, and
10th – Ebonyi. Ekiti was 11th; Ondo was 13th; Ogun was 19th; Oyo was 26th;
while Osun was 29th. In 2014, the top 10 states were similar: Anambra (65.92
per cent), Abia (58.52 per cent), Edo (57.82 per cent), Bayelsa (52.83 per
cent), Rivers (52.78 per cent), Enugu (51.91 per cent), Lagos (45.66 per cent),
Imo (40.64 per cent), Delta (40.12 per cent), Kaduna (36.12 per cent). Ebonyi
was 11th with 36.05 per cent.
For 2014, the states with the least performance were
Northern states: They were Yobe (36th), Zamfara (35th), Jigawa (34th), Gombe
(33rd), Katsina (32nd), Kebbi (31st) Bauchi (30th), and Sokoto (29th). In 2013,
the result was similar: 28th – Katsina (10.45 per cent), 29th – Adamawa (8.75 per
cent), 30th – Jigawa (7.47 per cent), 31st – Sokoto (7.12 per cent), 32nd –
Zamfara (6.65 per cent), 33rd – Kebbi (6.30 per cent), 34th – Gombe (5.68 per
cent), 35th – Bauchi (5.28 per cent), and 36th – Yobe (4.85 per cent).
Someone from the South-East or South-South could see
it as a reason for chest-thumping, but for me, it portends grave danger. Why do
I say so? I will explain shortly.Those who had not been following the trend in
education could dismiss this as a flash in the pan. But it is not so. I have
followed the trend since the late 1980s. From 1996 when the late military
dictator, Sani Abacha, created 36 states out of Nigeria, the three states that
have been producing the highest number of applicants in the examination
organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board have been Imo,
Anambra and Delta.
The Guardian of August 26, 1999, page 31, had some
statistics about the 1999 UTME examination. It showed that the six states with
the highest number of applications were: Imo (44,274), Delta (36,375), Anambra
(34,206), Ogun (33,375), Edo (29,057), and Osun (22,950). Conversely, the
states that produced the least number of candidates were all Northern states:
Borno (1,572), Katsina (1,054), Taraba (882), Sokoto (782), Kebbi (794), and
Yobe (535). The Registrar of JAMB then, Prof. Bello Ahmad Salim, lamented the
poor showing of the Northern states, noting that the 65,000 applications from
the 19 states of the North were just 20,726 higher than the number of
applications from only Imo State. If Imo and Delta states’ applications were
combined, that would amount to 80,649 applications: over 15,000 higher than the
applications from the 19 states of the North.
In 2007, The Guardian newspaper of June 1, page 3,
published the results of the 2007 University Matriculation Examination. The top
six states with the highest number of candidates were Imo (93,065), Anambra
(64,689), Delta (61,580), Edo (57,754), Akwa Ibom (47,928), and Ogun (47,227).
The last six were: Kebbi (4,682), Sokoto (3,925), Taraba (3,832), Zamfara
(2,904), Jigawa (2,541), and Yobe (2,516).
For the 2012 results released by JAMB and published by
Vanguard of March 31, the top five states were: Imo (123,865), Delta (88,876),
Anambra (84,204), Osun (73,935), Oyo (71,272). The least five states were:
Jigawa (11,529), Kebbi (7,364), Yobe (6,389), Zamfara (5,713), and Sokoto
(5,664).
In the Unity School admission of 2013, the states that
got the highest cut-off marks were: Anambra – Male (139) Female (139); Imo –
Male (138) Female (138); Enugu – Male (134) Female (134); Lagos – Male (133)
Female (133); Delta – Male (131) Female (131); Ogun – Male(131) Female(131);
Abia – Male (130) Female (130). The states that got the lowest cut-off scores
were: Zamfara – Male (four) Female (two); Yobe – Male (two) Female (27); Taraba
– Male (three) Female (11); Sokoto – Male (nine) Female (13); Kebbi – Male
(nine) Female (20); Bauchi – Male (35) Female (35).
So, for those from the South-West and North who may
give the excuse of the South-East and South-South states getting these results
by the help of “special centres,” it is a case of trying to hide behind a
finger. Instructively, the South-West, which was the first to receive Western
education, and was ahead in education, has lost its place in education in Nigeria.
Something is killing the interest of the South-West children in education. The
six South-West states need to see this as an emergency that transcends party
affiliation. This scenario is a source of danger because the South-East and
South-West have been counter forces to each other. Whatever feat the South-West
produces, the South-East counters it, and vice versa. We can see it in the
literary feats of Chinua Achebe and Wole Soyinka, the football feats of
Shooting Stars and Rangers, the political feats of Nnamdi Azikiwe and Obafemi
Awolowo, the academic feats of University of Nigeria, Nsukka and University of
Ife, Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), and so on. This healthy rivalry
enhances stability, peace and growth in the nation.
But if this downward trend continues, in future, that
balancing of forces between the South-West and the South-East will no longer
exist. And given that the indigenes of the South-East and the South-South dwell
in large numbers in the South-West, a time will come when the South-West could
feel angry that the indigenes of the South-East and South-South are taking over
positions that the South-West indigenes should occupy in the South-West. This
may cause problems as witnessed in the xenophobic attacks in South Africa last
year. So, it is in the interest of all that the South-West stage a come-back in
education.
The case of the North is scarier. Many commentators
keep quiet about this worrisome issue because of political correctness, but
only someone who loves you can tell you that you have mouth odour. It is
dangerous that there are 10 million youths in the North with no formal
education.
The rise of Boko Haram has worsened a bad situation in
the North. The few who want to go to school are scared away by this
unconscionable terrorist sect.
There are those who have erroneously said that the
lack of interest in education in the North is caused by religion (Islam). But
there are many nations with high Islamic population even in West Africa that
embraced education. Furthermore, Northern states like Taraba, Plateau and Benue
have a predominantly Christian population. Yet, there is a low interest in
education there.
There is no proof that Northerners have lower IQ than
Southerners. All men are created equal. The prevailing environmental conditions
make the difference.
So, the quota system is an enemy of the North that
every Northerner who loves the North must speak against. Without competition
and challenges, there is no burning desire in man to excel.
Nigeria runs on a quasi-unitary structure with each
link coupled to the other. It moves as a unit. It can only move as fast as its
slowest link and perform as good as its weakest link. It is in the interest of
Nigeria that the fire of education is rekindled in the North. This will expand
the opportunities available for Northern youths and reduce the tensions and
suspicion that exist between the North and the South.
We must also jettison this failed
feeding-bottle federalism that we have and adopt true federalism that allows
the federating units to move at their own pace and be competitive. A country
that does not promote competition abhors excellence.

AGAINST HUMANITY ON BIAFRANS BY BUHARI, IG OF POLICE AND OTHERS More details has been released with respect to IPOB’s case at the ICC. According to the lawyers, Prof. Göran Sluiter and Andrew Ianuzzi, both international lawyers
representing IPOB, there were 17 victims cases which the lawyers
believe that the actions of Nigerian government and the leaders constitute crimes
against humanity.
The lawyers said that the following crimes were committed including murder, unlawful imprisonment, torture enforced disappearance, other inhumane acts, and persecution in a bid to stop pro Biafra protests. The 17 victims according to the lawyers would not be disclosed yet so as to ensure their safety and protect their privacy, their statements according to Prof.
Göran Sluiter and Andrew Ianuzzi, were
attached to the petition. The petitioners said the alleged crimes were politically and
ethnically motivated. According to Saturday Punch, “to
support their claims, the petitioners said they were relying on a selected
number of publicly available reports documenting Nigeria’s political background, the
Nigerian Civil War of 1967–70 (also known as the Biafran War), the recent and violent
crimes committed in South-Eastern Nigeria, the Nigerian Federal Government’s involvement in
those crimes (including its lack of any remedial action whatsoever in response to
the bloodshed), and the OTP’s preliminary findings with respect
to its ongoing investigation into the situation in
Nigeria.”(Source Saturday Punch) Details of the filings also shows that
the lawyers acknowledged they have the documents to show that 18
people were unlawful killed at Onitsha, Anambra State by the police and or the Joint
Task force over and during the Pro-Biafra demonstrations. These
killings were carried out in four different incidents which
occurred on August 22, August 30, December 2, and December 17 in the year 2015.
“Moreover, an additional five
individuals were reportedly killed by the police in Port Harcourt in November 2015.
And at least two others have reportedly been killed recently in Abia State. All the
victims were members of either IPOB or Movement for the Actualization
of the Sovereign State of Biafra MASSOB. The killings the
lawyers maintained were part of the widespread and systematic attacks by the Nigerian
Government against pro-Biafran activists and their sympathizers.
The ICC filing papers described the detention of Nnamdi Kanu the IPOB
leader as unlawful and mentioned the statement made by President Buhari during the
television interview when the president said that the Federal government would
continue to keep Nnamdi Kanu in detention despite the High Court ruling that he should
be released.
The papers also mentioned that so far
four arrests have been made in Anambra State, six arrests in Imo State,
eleven arrests in Delta State and one arrest in Abia state. The Nigerian Inspector General
of Police Solomon Arase was quoted as saying that all the arrested
persons would be charged for inciting violence. Sluiter is the Chairman of
the International Criminal Law of the Faculty of Law at the University of Amsterdam and
also a partner of the Law firm Prakken d’Oliveira Human Rights Lawyers. Ianuzzi is
a Human Rights Investigator and independent Legal Consultant.
The case is with the Office of the Prosecutor of the International
Criminal Court in The Hague Netherlands. The Prosecutor is currently conducting their

On September 9, 2015, the
Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) released a statement titled: “PERSISTENT
TERRORIST ATTACKS ON BIAFRANS BY THE NIGERIAN STATE.” In that statement, we
catalogued the deadly terrorist attacks meted out on peace-loving people of Biafra
by agents of Nigeria under the supervision and leadership of Retired Major
General Muhammadu Buhari who is the current president of Nigeria. We further
alerted the world that Buhari plans to provoke Biafrans into retaliation and
then turn around to tag IPOB as a terrorist organization and Biafrans as
terrorists. This was before the leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was illegally
abducted by agents of Department of State Services (DSS) on October 14, 2015.
Between October 2015 and February
8, 2016 more terrorist attacks were carried out on Biafrans by Nigerian agents
under the instructions of Muhammadu Buhari, leading to the untimely and
gruesome death of over 50 Biafrans while thousands of others were seriously
injured or maimed. Today, February 9, 2016, a combined team of Nigerian Police
and Army invaded a private gathering of Biafrans at Aba in Abia State in the
Biafran region of Nigeria, where they were offering prayers to God Almighty for
Him to give victory to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in the court. This combined team of
armed Nigerian agents opened fire at these defenceless Biafrans, killing 10 of
them instantly while others sustained gunshot-induced injuries all over their
bodies and vital organs.
We have written several letters
and notifications to Heads of Governments of all countries and members of their
Legislative Arms on the plights of the Indigenous People of Biafra as we face
extermination by the gun-toting and trigger-happy armed agents of Nigeria under
the order of Muhammadu Buhari. The world leaders and their governments have
turned deaf ears and blind eyes to our plights. We have been tortured, killed,
maimed, disenfranchised economically and politically, humiliated, made to
desert our homelands, and treated like slaves in our own land. In all these,
the entire world pretended that nothing happened.
Now, we have come to the painful
but irreversible conclusion and determination to take our fate and destiny in
our own hands. Starting from Wednesday, February 10, 2016, Biafrans will now be
in the mode of self defence as enshrined by the relevant acts and declarations
of the United Nations. Let no country or world leader attempt to tag us as
terrorists because we are not terrorists, rather we are fighting for our
survival and from being exterminated from the surface of the earth.
We shall defend ourselves with
everything and anything necessary to avoid the continual killing of our
mothers, fathers, and children. This is the time for all Biafrans to rise and
defend themselves. We cannot fold our arms and watch Muhammadu Buhari kill us
the second time after killing over two million of us in 1968.
We have fully and totally
activated our rights to self defence!!!

About 3 Biafrans were Killed on their way for evangelism at Onitsha by the

The Abia
State Police Command has said that its agents shot dead two members of a
pro-Biafran group for allegedly disturbing students in their school just as the
group claimed that 22 of its members have been confirmed dead after the Tuesday
shooting.
The state
Police PRO, DSP Udeviotu Onyeke said the groups involved were members of the
Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and Movement for the Actualization of the
Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB.
He said:
“Some of our men that were on convoy patrol got information that the pro-Biafra
groups were harassing students. Then, the Aba Area Commander, Mr Peter Wabara
ordered the policemen on ground to go there and make them to leave the place as
the schools were in session and if they had wanted to hold their meeting, they
should have found another place in order not to disturb anybody.
“So when
the police entered the place, they found that the pro-Biafra groups were
relatively calm, so the police took positions to ensure that they did not do
any harm. Police was only there to ensure they did not come to cause break-down
of law and order on the street. But just as the Police was trying to persuade
them to leave the place, soldiers drove in and arrested five of their members
and began to take them away but the group members blocked the way of the
military personnel.
That was
when they started shooting at them. “Before the police left the place, they
picked two dead unidentified persons from the ground and arrested 20 others
while one who was badly injured was taken to the hospital.” He admitted that
some other persons might have been injured in the stampede which the police did
not know of during the crisis.
However,
the state Coordinator of, MASSOB, Mr Anayo Okpala told our correspondent that
the police command was telling half truths, stressing that the group had been
using the venue for prayers and meetings for many years now.
He said
the group met to pray for the release of the IPOB Radio Director, Mr Nnamdi
Kanu when the police came and later the Army joined them and began to shoot at
them. According to him, the prayers were held in all the states of the
South-East and South-South at the few centres hosting the prayer meetings. Mr
Okpala said:
“From
yesterday to this morning, we counted 22 dead persons and many had various
degrees of injuries who had either been shot or killed in the stampede, while
many are in hospitals. Some died at the prayer ground but some others have died
in the hospitals where they were taken to.”
He said that he was sure at
the last count on Wednesday morning that 22 members of the group comprising of
MASSOB and IPOB members were dead. Okpala also claimed that the security agents
arrested five leaders of the group including the Abia state, Rivers State and Imo
state IPOB Coordinators and many other members.

Why South-west And North Should Be Worried

Last week, the 2015 West African Senior School Certificate of Education result
was released. The Punch chose to publish the story with an attention-grabbing
headline: “Again, South-East leads in the WASSCE performance chart.” The report
showed that Abia State dethroned Anambra. The states were ranked according to
the percentage that had a minimum of five credits, including in English
Language and Mathematics.
But the
surprise in the report was that almost like in 2014, no South-West state except
Lagos was on the top 10 of the chart. The top 10 states were the five
South-East states, four South-South states and Lagos: 1st – Abia (63.94 per
cent), 2nd – Anambra (61.18 per cent), 3rd – Edo, 4th – Rivers, 5th – Imo, 6th
– Lagos, 7th – Bayelsa, 8th – Delta, 9th – Enugu, and 10th – Ebonyi. Ekiti was
11th; Ondo was 13th; Ogun was 19th; Oyo was 26th; while Osun was 29th. In 2014,
the top 10 states were similar: Anambra (65.92 per cent), Abia (58.52 per
cent), Edo (57.82 per cent), Bayelsa (52.83 per cent), Rivers (52.78 per cent),
Enugu (51.91 per cent), Lagos (45.66 per cent), Imo (40.64 per cent), Delta
(40.12 per cent), Kaduna (36.12 per cent). Ebonyi was 11th with 36.05 per cent.
For
2014, the states with the least performance were Northern states: They were
Yobe (36th), Zamfara (35th), Jigawa (34th), Gombe (33rd), Katsina (32nd), Kebbi
(31st) Bauchi (30th), and Sokoto (29th). In 2013, the result was similar: 28th
– Katsina (10.45 per cent), 29th – Adamawa (8.75 per cent), 30th – Jigawa (7.47
per cent), 31st – Sokoto (7.12 per cent), 32nd – Zamfara (6.65 per cent), 33rd
– Kebbi (6.30 per cent), 34th – Gombe (5.68 per cent), 35th – Bauchi (5.28 per
cent), and 36th – Yobe (4.85 per cent).
Someone
from the South-East or South-South could see it as a reason for chest-thumping,
but for me, it portends grave danger. Why do I say so? I will explain
shortly.Those who had not been following the trend in education could dismiss
this as a flash in the pan. But it is not so. I have followed the trend since
the late 1980s. From 1996 when the late military dictator, Sani Abacha, created
36 states out of Nigeria, the three states that have been producing the highest
number of applicants in the examination organised by the Joint Admissions and
Matriculation Board have been Imo, Anambra and Delta.
The
Guardian of August 26, 1999, page 31, had some statistics about the 1999 UTME
examination. It showed that the six states with the highest number of
applications were: Imo (44,274), Delta (36,375), Anambra (34,206), Ogun
(33,375), Edo (29,057), and Osun (22,950). Conversely, the states that produced
the least number of candidates were all Northern states: Borno (1,572), Katsina
(1,054), Taraba (882), Sokoto (782), Kebbi (794), and Yobe (535). The Registrar
of JAMB then, Prof. Bello Ahmad Salim, lamented the poor showing of the
Northern states, noting that the 65,000 applications from the 19 states of the
North were just 20,726 higher than the number of applications from only Imo
State. If Imo and Delta states’ applications were combined, that would amount
to 80,649 applications: over 15,000 higher than the applications from the 19
states of the North.
In 2007,
The Guardian newspaper of June 1, page 3, published the results of the 2007
University Matriculation Examination. The top six states with the highest
number of candidates were Imo (93,065), Anambra (64,689), Delta (61,580), Edo
(57,754), Akwa Ibom (47,928), and Ogun (47,227). The last six were: Kebbi
(4,682), Sokoto (3,925), Taraba (3,832), Zamfara (2,904), Jigawa (2,541), and Yobe
(2,516).
For the
2012 results released by JAMB and published by Vanguard of March 31, the top
five states were: Imo (123,865), Delta (88,876), Anambra (84,204), Osun
(73,935), Oyo (71,272). The least five states were: Jigawa (11,529), Kebbi
(7,364), Yobe (6,389), Zamfara (5,713), and Sokoto (5,664).
In the
Unity School admission of 2013, the states that got the highest cut-off marks
were: Anambra – Male (139) Female (139); Imo – Male (138) Female (138); Enugu –
Male (134) Female (134); Lagos – Male (133) Female (133); Delta – Male (131)
Female (131); Ogun – Male(131) Female(131); Abia – Male (130) Female (130). The
states that got the lowest cut-off scores were: Zamfara – Male (four) Female
(two); Yobe – Male (two) Female (27); Taraba – Male (three) Female (11); Sokoto
– Male (nine) Female (13); Kebbi – Male (nine) Female (20); Bauchi – Male (35)
Female (35).
So, for
those from the South-West and North who may give the excuse of the South-East
and South-South states getting these results by the help of “special centres,”
it is a case of trying to hide behind a finger. Instructively, the South-West,
which was the first to receive Western education, and was ahead in education,
has lost its place in education in Nigeria. Something is killing the interest
of the South-West children in education. The six South-West states need to see
this as an emergency that transcends party affiliation. This scenario is a
source of danger because the South-East and South-West have been counter forces
to each other. Whatever feat the South-West produces, the South-East counters
it, and vice versa. We can see it in the literary feats of Chinua Achebe and
Wole Soyinka, the football feats of Shooting Stars and Rangers, the political
feats of Nnamdi Azikiwe and Obafemi Awolowo, the academic feats of University
of Nigeria, Nsukka and University of Ife, Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo
University), and so on. This healthy rivalry enhances stability, peace and
growth in the nation.
But if
this downward trend continues, in future, that balancing of forces between the
South-West and the South-East will no longer exist. And given that the
indigenes of the South-East and the South-South dwell in large numbers in the
South-West, a time will come when the South-West could feel angry that the indigenes
of the South-East and South-South are taking over positions that the South-West
indigenes should occupy in the South-West. This may cause problems as witnessed
in the xenophobic attacks in South Africa last year. So, it is in the interest
of all that the South-West stage a come-back in education.
The case
of the North is scarier. Many commentators keep quiet about this worrisome
issue because of political correctness, but only someone who loves you can tell
you that you have mouth odour. It is dangerous that there are 10 million youths
in the North with no formal education.
The rise
of Boko Haram has worsened a bad situation in the North. The few who want to go
to school are scared away by this unconscionable terrorist sect.
There
are those who have erroneously said that the lack of interest in education in
the North is caused by religion (Islam). But there are many nations with high
Islamic population even in West Africa that embraced education. Furthermore,
Northern states like Taraba, Plateau and Benue have a predominantly Christian
population. Yet, there is a low interest in education there.
There is
no proof that Northerners have lower IQ than Southerners. All men are created
equal. The prevailing environmental conditions make the difference.
So, the
quota system is an enemy of the North that every Northerner who loves the North
must speak against. Without competition and challenges, there is no burning
desire in man to excel.
Nigeria
runs on a quasi-unitary structure with each link coupled to the other. It moves
as a unit. It can only move as fast as its slowest link and perform as good as
its weakest link. It is in the interest of Nigeria that the fire of education
is rekindled in the North. This will expand the opportunities available for
Northern youths and reduce the tensions and suspicion that exist between the
North and the South.
We must
also jettison this failed feeding-bottle federalism that we have and adopt true
federalism that allows the federating units to move at their own pace and be
competitive. A country that does not promote competition abhors excellence.

‘250 protesting soldiers deserted when told of deployment to battle Boko

The Nigerian Army on Tuesday said
the 250 soldiers who protested in Kaduna State earlier in the week were those
who deserted when they were told of their deployment to the battle field in the
North East.
A statement on Tuesday by the Nigerian Army said the soldiers were among the 2,023 who were reabsorbed into the Service after their dismissal last year.
Their reabsorption was ordered by
the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai.
The soldiers protested at the
secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists in Kaduna, Kaduna State,
pleading for reabsorption into the Nigerian Army.
But the spokesman of the Nigerian
Army, Colonel Sani Usman, said on Tuesday that the soldiers fled when they were
told of the decision to deploy them to battle Boko Haram in the North East.
Usman said, however, that when they
learnt that some of their colleagues who stayed back were deployed to other
places, they decided to play smart by staging the protest.
Usman said in
his statement on Tuesday: “The protesting soldiers were those soldiers
dismissed last week by the Nigerian Army over gross acts of indiscipline,
cowardice and absence without leave. They were part of the 2,023 dismissed
soldiers last year that were earlier reinstated back into the Service by the
present Chief of Army Staff. However these set of soldiers (the 205) absconded
for more than one week when they were told that they were to move to North East
on the 6th of January 2016. They started coming back when they realised that
others were moved to units other than the theatre of operations in the North East. Please note that all efforts were made to make all the
reinstated soldiers comfortable and integrate them back into the system. The
protesting soldiers are the few who are recalcitrant to military duties and
discipline. They are simply not interested in army job but want to earn salary.
No one should listen to them as they are not patriotic at all.
“It should
be noted that the Nigerian Army has been tolerant and patient with their acts
of indiscipline and unprofessional conduct. This was based on the understanding
of their circumstances and conditions. Efforts have been made to retrain them,
integrate and give them sense of belonging. However the attitude of some of
them has left so much to be desired and would not be tolerated anymore hence
their dismissal from Service. The Nigerian Army thrives on discipline, loyalty
and good conduct and if anyone could not measure up to expectation or live by
those tenets, he would not be allowed to remain in the system.”

FOR BIAFRA SELF DEFENSE UNITS
BIAFRA HAS COME UNDER ATTACK FEBRUARY 12, 2016 Washington DC: As a result of the extrajudicial slayings of dozens of unarmed Biafran protestors by the Nigerian military these past two months in at least three well documented incidents and the detention of scores of others, the OEAS calls for the formation of Biafra self-defense units to protect peaceful demonstrators and independence advocates. Nigeria has rejected calls by the OEAS to release all Biafran prisoners including Nnamdi Kanu and Benjamin Onwuka. Nigeria has also refused to consider a peaceful referendum on the future of Biafra and the stand down of its armed forces in Biafra. Particularly, disappointing was the recent meeting of Nigerian President Buhari with European Union officials at which the pleas of Nmandi Kanu went unaddressed by Buhari. Previously the OEAS had requested EU High Representative Mogherini use her good offices to facilitate a settlement. Ultimately, both Buhari and the EU have failed to address the Biafra issue in good faith. In the absence of international support or remedy, Biafran patriots have no choice but to mobilize for self-defense or face extermination. The Nigerian government has transferred battled hardened Muslim troops from the Boko Haram front to Biafra with shoot to kill orders. There has also been increased activity by the Nigerian Department of State Security (DSS) with informants and infiltrators targeting Biafra independence groups and preparations for mass arrests. The OEAS advises that independence minded people follow the lead of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other reliable groups that are currently forming units to protect demonstrators from attack and independence advocates from summary arrest and torture. Biafra: ‘Mobilise and defend yourselves’ – OEAS urges IPOB ;-
Following the recent killing of members of Indigenous People of Biafra
(IPOB)- the Organisation of Emerging African States (OEAS), on Friday, issued a
statement decrying the killings.
The group, which aims at promoting self governance among African countries
and ending neo-colonial rule, stated that the in the face of the attack on
unarmed IPOB, the secessionist group should defend themselves by whatever
means.
The statement, which was signed by Dr. Ebenezer Derek Mbongo Akwanga,
Jnr, Secretary General, and Dr. Jonathan Levy, Chief Administrative Officer of
OEAS, reads in part:
“As a result of the extrajudicial slayings of dozens of unarmed Biafran
protesters by the Nigerian military these past two months in at least three
well documented incidents and the detention of scores of others, the OEAS calls
for the formation of Biafra self-defense units to protect peaceful
demonstrators and independence advocates.
“Nigeria has rejected calls by the OEAS to release all Biafran prisoners
including Nnamdi Kanu and Benjamin Onwuka. Nigeria has also refused to consider
a peaceful referendum on the future of Biafra and the stand down of its armed
forces in Biafra. Particularly, disappointing was the recent meeting of
Nigerian President Buhari with European Union officials at which the pleas of
Nmandi Kanu went unaddressed by Buhari. Previously the OEAS had requested EU
High Representative Mogherini use her good offices to facilitate a settlement.
Ultimately, both Buhari and the EU have failed to address the Biafra issue in
good faith.
“In the absence of international support or remedy, Biafran patriots
have no choice but to mobilize for self-defense or face extermination. The
Nigerian government has transferred battled hardened Muslim troops from the
Boko Haram front to Biafra with shoot to kill orders. There has also been
increased activity by the Nigerian Department of State Security (DSS) with
informants and infiltrators targeting Biafra independence groups and
preparations for mass arrests.
“The OEAS advises that independence minded people follow the lead of the
Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other reliable groups that are currently
forming units to protect demonstrators from attack and independence advocates
from summary arrest and torture.
“It is the firm position of the OEAS that the Biafran people cannot be

A Pro-Biafra leader whose arrest sparked a wave of protests
across Nigeria’s southeast has told AFP from jail he is a “prisoner of
conscience” and vowed to realise his dream of an independent state. The head of
the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) group, Nnamdi Kanu, is accused by the
state of “propagating a secessionist agenda” with the intention to “levy war
against Nigeria”. Kanu, who also runs the London-based Radio Biafra, is facing
charges of treasonable felony, managing an unlawful society and illegally
shipping radio equipment into the country. He has been in custody since his
arrest in October, despite being granted bail, and denied all charges.
His arrest and continued detention has made
him a figurehead for his supporters, whose repeated marches in the southeast
have increasingly led to killed by the police. “Biafra has come to
stay,” Kanu told AFP in a text message via his brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu,
who met him on Thursday in Kuje prison on the outskirts of Nigeria’s capital
Abuja. “They will kill us but by the end Biafra will come,” the 48-year-old
added. “I am a prisoner of conscience and killing unarmed Biafran protesters is
a crime against humanity.”
But
Kanu’s arrest and detention has galvanised support for the Biafra movement
among young people who never knew the horrors of war and have little to lose in
fighting for a better life. Today the former regional power is impoverished,
with dilapidated infrastructure and high unemployment fuelling resentment
against the federal government. “We have been failed in so many ways,” Kanu
said, describing Igbos as “third class citizens”, echoing many in the region
who say they are still being punished for the civil war. Kanu, who has
described Nigeria as a “zoo” which “has to come to an end”, was a relative
unknown before his arrest.
But President Muhammadu Buhari, facing
security threats from Boko Haram in the northeast and an uneasy peace in the
oil-producing south, has said Kanu poses a threat to Nigeria’s fragile unity.
In December, a finger-wagging Buhari said Kanu committed “atrocities” against
Nigeria, adding “there’s a treasonable felony against him and I hope the
court will listen to the case”.

Police crackdown –
Dressed
in an outfit of pristine white and sporting a neat salt-and-pepper beard, Kanu
last appeared in public at an Abuja court Tuesday, arriving in handcuffs and
flanked by prison officers. His lawyer spent the bulk of the afternoon fighting
a state application to have some proceedings held behind closed doors. “When people are
refused access to the court, I ask myself are the defendants actually condemned
before they are heard?” said Chuks Muoma, warning against a “secret trial.” The prosecution alleges Kanu was running an
armed group with ritual baptisms and young men conscripted as “Biafran
soldiers”. Kanu’s half-sister, Tonia Kanu, said the current response to the
protests was only worsening the situation. After the judge adjourned Kanu’s
case until February 19, Tonia received reports that police had shot dead
protesters in the southeast city of Aba.
A day later, police confirmed two
protesters were killed, with 21 IPOB members arrested. “People are being killed
every day just because of peaceful protest. It’s too bad,” Tonia told AFP. She
flicked through her Facebook feed on her smart phone to show gory photos of
dead protesters and a coffin covered with the Biafran flag – red, black and
green with a yellow rising sun. “The violence is to scare people, for them not
to be serious,” she said. “But the more you kill them the more they multiply.”

result will be a retaliation in the north which will force our people home.
This will lead to crisis in the zoo. those
foreign media will be forced to broadcast it. This will give us a better
platform to talk to the world. this
is my contribution for today based on the situation on the ground, whether our
leaders are listening or not should not stop me from thinking ,dreaming and crying for my Biafra every
minute. am sure we can get Biafra if
