BIAFRAN HISTORY
General Chukwuemeka Odimegwu
Ojukwu
General Chukwuemeka Odimegwu
Ojukwu, of blessed memory, selflessly championed the defense of the Biafran
nation against the Nigerian military and her foreign allies between 1967 and
1970. Biafrans it should be clearly stated, were marked for annihilation by the
Hausa-Fulanis and their Yoruba counterparts on a revenge mission schemed
against Major Kaduna Nzeogwu led military coup d’etat. That coup was
mischievously tagged an Igbo coup.
Igbo Biafrans were terribly massacred
in thousands within the Northern region of Nigeria, although the killing of
Igbos started in the year 1945 in Jos, the present day Plateau State capital
city. (Goggle Northern/Southern tension which manifested first in 1945 during
Jos Riot. Three hundred (300) Igbo Biafrans were killed in that upheaval and
again on 1st May 1953, when another disturbance broke out in the city of Kano).
Historical facts prove that all
the problems and sufferings associated with the Igbo Biafrans was realistically
caused by late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. He was then warned by prominent Igbo men
including Mbonu Ojike who clearly told him that Igbos and the Hausa-Fulanis
cannot co-habit. Zik totally declined to pay heed to their counsels by
consistently projecting the One-Nigeria mantra. Even Fredrick Lugard who
amalgamated the divergent indigenous ethnic nationalities and tagged them
Nigeria, stated that the people are like oil and water that cannot mix.
Odimegwu Ojukwu emerged in the
scene like a savior to Biafrans then just like what Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is
presently doing. If really Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe fully supported the Biafra
movement with his influence and clout, the Biafra nation would have for long
become another Japan replicated here in Africa.
Odimegwu Ojukwu never conceived
going to war with Nigeria but rather, what he wanted was firm and unbroken
assurance that Biafrans would be safe and protected in Nigeria but the killings
persisted. Aburi accord was put together for the same purpose of securing
Biafrans but Yakubu Gowon blatantly reneged on what was agreed on in Ghana.
Odimegwu Ojukwu did not kill anyone nor did he orchestrate the killing of
Biafrans. He really tried his utmost best, investing all he had, to save his
people from total destruction from the Northern oligarchy and the Yorubas.
Late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe did
virtually nothing for the interest of his own people but instead, was busying
himself around with personal protection amongst other interests. He was so
engrossed in callousness to the point that he lost the wisdom of seeing what
Obafemi Awolowo was envisioning through tribal politics. Tafawa Balewa played
the same tribal politics and Zik totally lost out. He traded the overriding
interest of his own people for the politics of One-Nigeria which till date, has
remained the mainstream politics in the country. Disappointedly, those who were
involved in playing tribal politics are today ruling over Zik’s people. Ndigbo
kwuru Okwu Sina: “Ana esina ulo amara mma puo na ama…”
Mana Zik zitere ama biawa na
ulo”. One common Igbo adage says that “one’s beauty starts from inside to the
outside, but Zik’s beauty started from outside to inside”. That was how he
created the problem between the Igbos and their Eyo Ita brethren. When Azikiwe
was sacked by Awolowo in Lagos, it was then he remembered he had a home and got
back to Enugu where meritocracy was being practiced. The love that then existed
between the Igbos and their neighboring Biafran brethren was tampered with. He
removed Eyo Ita as the duly elected Premier of the old Eastern region. This was
how Zik precipitated the animosity which is yet being felt today by some of our
brethren in both Akwa-Ibom and Cross River States.
Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu
though late, remains a man that should be honored amongst Igbos in particular
and Biafrans in general. His father, Louis Ojukwu was the richest man in his
own time in Nigeria. Chukwuemeka employed his father’s wealth in the defense of
Ndigbo and Biafrans at large from being obliterated. What a sacrifice one can
make for his people! Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu happened to be the first
graduate to be enrolled into the Nigerian army and that record would remain
outstanding until the eventual dissolution of Nigeria. Nnewi became what it is
today because Ojukwu heeded to the call of investing in Biafraland instead of
Lagos. Nnewi has the highest number of billionaires in the Nigerian contraption
at least and these men have their companies firmly located in the town,
exceptionally thriving as Ojukwu’s brainchild.
It should be emphatically
stated here and wisely too, that the people’s General, late Chukwuemeka
Odimegwu Ojukwu never killed anyone nor did he orchestrate the killing of Igbos
and other Biafrans anywhere in Nigeria. He rather saved his own people from the
total annihilation plot of the Fulani oligarchy and their Yoruba counterparts.

BIAFRA: THINK HOME,
INVEST HOME AND
SETTLE HOME. VOL.1 ~ EMILOGUE
"Home sweet home, there is
no place like home." This popular saying has existed for ages now and
still on, remains the best description to ones homeland. Albeit, some
contemporary homes may appear more advanced and well equipped with modern
facilities than the others. In the same vein, towns and cities vary in growth and
development levels. Human resource developments as well as value systems of
different human entities have no doubts contributed immensely to these varying
degrees of the modern human homes. The key variances in the contemporary human
homes which are extantly deriving by the two major economic factors of 'needs'
and 'scarcity' with the accompanying human resource developments and values
systems among others have the physical proofs or imprints in science and
technology.
Science and technology have
indisputably Contributed to the modern society that even the blind need not
been told of the latest anymore to believe as they can now see things for and
by themselves. And neither do the deaf need to remain in the dark anymore for
hearing deficiencies as they can now hear for and by themselves courtesy of
science and technological advancements. Hospitals, Education, Social life,
Transportation, Aviation, Economics, Politics, Medicine and almost every other
facets of life have all been affected or influenced in one way or the other by
the golden hands of sciences and technologies. All thanks to both science and
technology for their immeasurable Contributions to the modern world.
Be that as it may, the purpose
of this writing is not to dwell the discussion on why some modern homes fare or
are faring far more better and well equipped with modern facilities than the
others nor the factors that sustain the major variances in the contemporary
world.
Instead, the purpose is first
and foremost to understand the real meaning of the statement "Home sweet
home, there is no place like home" and to highlight the needs for every
Igbo-Biafrans plus all other Biafrans with high level of investments in
diaspora [i.e. outside their regions or homelands] to start having a rethink for
investments back home.
The importance cum the needs
for Biafrans in diaspora to adhere to this simple but age long instructional
cry of those at home to start thinking home, investing home and perhaps, bring
down home their investments which I strongly believed it's even long overbeaten
or overtreated cannot be overemphasized, hence, the need for the persistent
reminder.
Haven said all that, the
statement "Home sweet Home, there is no place like home" simply
entails, ones undiluted love for the homeland inspite and despite every lapses
or challenges associated with such a home. It means loving and fighting in
favour of one's home in good or bad times. For instance, my first and foremost
homeland ever in the world is Ndieze-Okpoto, Ishielu LGA, Ebonyi State,
Biafraland. Within Ebonyi and Ishielu LGA jurisdiction where Ndieze-Okpoto is
located, we are grossly marginalised/stigmatized by the government probably,
due to language, Political and other barriers. But, despite all that barriers,
me and my people still represent her[Ndieze-Okpoto] first and foreceably,
always and everywhere we go to.
Again, all over Igbo land,
Ebonyi state is stigmatized/marginalised grossly by the rest of our Igbo
brothers. But, all that notwithstanding, we still hold Ebonyi cum Igbo legacies
high and all her privileges as the utmost. In other words, I and my fellow
patriots of Ndieze-Okpoto origin don't only prioritise her affairs above every
others but also think and act in offensive or defends of Ndieze-Okpoto first
and foremost most before Ishielu LGA, Ebonyi and Biafraland at large. And, we
do all these things despite and Inspite of the hate or love, stigmatisations or
marginalisations, etc, from any quarters.
In essence, the "home
sweet home" as rightly explained here should serve as a pointer and necessity
to Biafrans allover the world, the utmost need to think home, invest home and
if possible, settle home. This is because, no other people on the surface of
the earth can guarantee the safety of our lives and belongings more than our
own selves. No other people in the world can best assure the safety and
security of our lives and properties than our own selves and people on our own
home soil.
To think home is to think life.
To think home is to think progress. To think home is to think aright. There's truly
no place like home. Good or bad, no place can be compared to/with home. Think
home today. Invest home today and settle home finally. I know there are some
challenges attached to such decisions but we can discuss that on the comment
box below. [Vol.2 Loading...]

By Maiyegun General
Biafrans voted in a Referendum
to leave Nigeria on 26th May, 1967. Four days later, the administrator of
Eastern Region at the time, Ojukwu declared Biafra independence; Gowon the honcho head of the northern
military government moved the tanks into the Eastern Nigeria after all
resolutions to get Biafrans back to Nigeria failed – 5million killed.
How many of you knew there was
actually a Referendum for Biafra in 1967 and nearly 100% of the people voted to
leave? They didn't want them to leave because of the Niger Delta crude oil.
Well, it was due to the
killings of Igbos in Kano and North after the 1966 Gowon coup that things
finally broke down. The Igbos returned to the east for safety and then a year
later, voted en mass to leave Nigeria, like reasonable people should, the
animal Gowon moved the tanks and killed 5million in 3 years, including women
and children.
Awolowo was Nigeria's finance
minister, Obasanjo was there and that coward Murtala that killed unarmed men in
Asaba and children when Nigerian army he led called people to come out of their
hiding, that the war was over and when the civilians came out, men were
separated and executed right there – their women raped and killed too.
These guys didn't remove
history from Nigerians schools for no reason, they are criminals and history
will never be kind to them
I don't need your like, I don't
need your validation. If you don't like what I do, unfollow my page or I'll
kick you out myself if you come here with your usual stupid Nigerian mentality
with foolish questions.
